Danelle Hand / Producer-Writer-UPM Having worked in both the Studio and Independent Film worlds, Danelle Hand has a strong, diverse background in both the creative and physical areas of motion picture production.

In the Independent Film world, Danelle UPM’d the 2nd highest-selling film at AFM - the award-winning political thriller “La Linea” with Ray Liotta and Andy Garcia which filmed in Mexico and the US after having only 2 1/2 weeks of prep. She also Associate-Produced and UPM’d the award-winning boxing drama “Bad Penny” aka “Knockdown” which was shot in Thailand and the US; the children’s film “Rainbow Tribe” which was shot in the mountains and starred a dozen little boys under the age of 12; IFC’s TV-series “Independent Focus”; “North by El Norte” which was shot in the US desert and Mexico; and was involved in the documentaries “Backpack Doctors of Burma”“While Time Stands Still” and “Catherine Connor”. Danelle has worked in Mexico, Thailand, Canada, France, and in many US states including California, Louisiana, Arizona, Georgia, New Mexico, Colorado and South Carolina. She has won numerous awards and is known for bringing films in on time and on budget.

In the Studio world, Danelle just finished Line Producing and UPMing the comedy TV pilot “Micah, the Asshole Ghost” for Hazy Mills - Magma Productions with Kristin Chenoweth and Michael McMillian which used extensive CGI. She Produced and UPM’d two projects for Marvel Studios presidents Kevin Fiege and Brad Winderbaum which were released on the “Thor” and “Avengers” DVDs and Blue Ray and linked together the characters in the Marvel Universe. Danelle has worked on films in Physical Production and the Development Departments, including Marvel Studios, Phoenix Pictures, Sony Studios, Sanford-Pillsbury and Universal Family Film & TV. Danelle received her first professional credit on a PBS series when she was 18 and worked her way through the ranks of Hollywood in numerous departments. This multi-faceted background gives her a unique ability to minimize problems and cut film costs without sacrificing creativity, plus broadens the scope of production to include ancillary markets like Web Content, Social Media, DVDs, PR Campaigns, Contests, Books, Video Games, and Merchandising, including clothing and toys.

An accomplished screenwriter and script analyst, Danelle has helped scripts through the development process. Her in-depth experience in both screenwriting and film production has guided screenwriters and directors to a locked script that maximizes the ‘on screen’ dollar and ensures investors get the biggest bang for their buck without sacrificing creativity. She was honored by the prestigious Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting for her historical epic, “The Legacy”, which was chosen by The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences from 5400 scripts. She was a screening judge for the Sundance Film Festival from 1997-2001, in addition to the Best Screenplay Contest and Burbank Screenwriting Competition. Danelle is also a panelist for both the Independent Filmmakers Conference and Pasadena Action on Film Festival, plus a guest teacher for the UCLA Film Program.

Danelle attributes her transition to producing to her former mentor, Norman Lear, who advised her to start her own company. Now producing under her own banner, Circle of Friends Productions with Robert “RJ” Hume, they are producing the dramedy “Relative Strangers” with Mira Sorvino, Sasha Pieterse, Manolo Cardona and Bryan Batt, then following with the broad comedy “Mean Cuisine” with Alec Mapa and Martin Short, the Sci-Fi 3-D “Red Tide”, and the 3-D western “Unspoken Contract”. They are currently in pre-production on the 3-D family adventure “The River Movie”. Danelle has deals with Relativity Music/Firstar plus distribution offers with Paramount.

Danelle completed UCLA’s Producer’s Program, has BAs from UC Irvine in French and European Studies, studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. She speaks English, French and some Spanish and Italian. Danelle volunteers for the Red Cross, is a board member for Ascension Elementary School in a gang prevalent area of Central Los Angeles, and for Dream Fetchers which brings Hollywood stunt animals to perform in children’s hospitals, schools and shelters.
